How to check an individual car

  • The refrigerant label is on the underside of the hood, and Kia says it carries the amount of refrigerant.
  • With a heat pump the air conditioning charge is 850±25 g of R-1234yf; without one, 750±25 g.
  • Kia's caveat: the label in the vehicle may differ from the illustration.

Scope note

Model years 2022 through 2026, US market, each read from Kia America's own Features & Options file for that model year. Trim lineups change year to year and are listed as Kia lists them: the Light disappears for 2023 and returns for 2024 split into Light Short Range and Light Long Range, and the GT arrives for 2023. What "Optional" meant in practice — whether the heat pump could be ordered on its own or arrived only bundled — is not stated in any Kia document, so a Wind, a GT-Line or a Light Long Range has to be checked car by car.
