Tesla Model Y: Charging
DC fast charging
- Tesla's basis for the 15-minute figure: vehicle efficiency at a constant highway speed of 65 mph, with actual range and charging performance varying by Supercharger type, vehicle configuration, state of charge, battery temperature, speed, weather and elevation change.
- Not every car reaches 250 kW: Tesla says rates vary with the size and age of the battery pack, state of charge, ambient temperature and vehicle configuration.
Home charging (Level 2)
| Circuit breaker | Maximum output | Miles of range per hour on a Tesla Wall Connector |
|---|---|---|
| 60 A | 48 A, 11.5 kW | 44 |
| 50 A | 40 A, 9.6 kW | 37 |
| 40 A | 32 A, 7.7 kW | 30 |
| 30 A | 24 A, 5.7 kW | 22 |
| 20 A | 16 A, 3.8 kW | 15 |
| 15 A | 12 A, 2.8 kW | 11 |
- All charge speeds in Tesla's table are approximate.
- Trim cap: the maximum charge rate for Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive and Model Y All-Wheel Drive is 32 A (7.7 kW), up to 30 miles of range per hour — the 40 A breaker row, so a 60 A or 50 A circuit buys those two drivetrains nothing.
- To match a breaker to a specific car, Tesla points to the lightning bolt icon on the touchscreen, which shows the car's maximum amperage.
- A Wall Connector can also be installed on lower-amperage breakers where household power is limited.
- Wall outlets, stated for Tesla vehicles generally: a 120 volt outlet supplies 2 to 3 miles of range per hour, and a 240 volt outlet up to 30.

Scope note
Tesla versions the Model Y manual in broad editions, a 2020-2024 edition and a 2025+ edition, and every manual line above was read in both on 2026-08-25, from the Model Y editions rather than the Model 3 ones. Tesla's support and compare pages carry no version or date and are revised in place, so those figures are as of 2026-08-25. The 32 A cap naming Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive and Model Y All-Wheel Drive is Tesla's current wording, and Tesla attaches no model-year range or trim list to it.
